Quality Inn & Suites Val-d’Or and 3 of its employees are Nominees at the Grands Prix du Tourisme Gala

The Quality Inn & Suites Val-d’Or has received 4 nominations at the regional Tourism Gala “Grands Prix du Tourisme de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue”

This new hotel is nominated for the category “Accommodation 40 to 199 units” rewarding hotels that demonstrate innovation in regards to development of a product or service, marketing and management.

Three employees that have been working at the Quality Inn & Suites Val-d’Or, since the opening, are also contenders for the prizes; Mr. Alexandre Audet, Assistant Manager, Ms. Betty Ann McPeake, Head Housekeeper and Mr. Alain Houle, Front Desk Agent.

Mr. Audet is a candidate in the “Relève touristique” category, which showcases young leaders that stand out in their business and in the tourism industry.  As for Ms. McPeake, she is in the “Tourism Supervisor” category and Mr. Houle is in the “Tourism employee” category.

“This is the first year where we are eligible for this Gala and we are proud to have three of our employees as nominees, in addition to the hotel, also a nominee” says Michael Prince, General Manager of the hotel. “This Winter, we celebrate our second year of the opening of the hotel, and this is an honour for the shareholders and me.” The winners will be known during the Gala, on March 16th, 2013.

These nominations are in addition to the prizes already won by the hotel; “Rookie of the year” and “Spirit of hospitality”, awarded by Choice Hotels Canada in the fall of 2011 as well as the “Special Jury Prize” awarded at the 2012 Gala of the Chamber of Commerce of Val-d’Or.
